Wangaratta journalist and performer Kylie Wilson, who died last week after a long illness, was remembered during the online Amateur Performance Theatre Awards - Border Region on Saturday.
Wilson joined Wangaratta Players 20 years ago and worked on and off stage for this group and other North East companies over the years.
In 2017 she directed Company for Wangaratta Players while her last on-stage role was as Mrs T in Avenue Q, presented by Revolution Theatre Productions at The Cube Wodonga last year.
Wangaratta Players' Lorraine Monshing, in an emotional tribute, thanked "the girl with a heart of gold, quirky sense of humour and the most beautiful twinkly blue eyes".
"You were loved and will be missed, the memories will always be with us, rest peacefully, dear girl," Monshing said.
APT Awards presenter Shoshanna Griffin said a new award would be created for 2021 - the Kylie Wilson Company Award - in memory of her dedication to theatre.
Wodonga Senior Secondary College's production of Matilda: The Musical took out five categories in the APT Awards while sound and lighting specialist Ian Reid, of Allegro Theatre Company, Yarrawonga won Special Achievement in Theatre.
