Interstate NRL players who refuse a flu shot for ethical or religious reasons won't be allowed to play in Queensland after its government decided players would only receive vaccination exemptions on medical grounds.
The Storm's 50-strong squad, which has spent the past week in Albury training due to the Victorian government's strict restrictions on training, which have now been lifted, allowing the club to return home, was all vaccinated last week.
"Yeah, I tend to agree with that (every player should have a flu shot) and I think something that hasn't really been spoken about is the really strict protocols on the players," Welch said.

"If you are demonstrating any form of symptoms, similar to the coronavirus, you get isolated.
"I just think, especially this year, with how strict everything is, I think it's a bit of a risk to the squad (if opposition players haven't had a flu shot)."
