Resorts opened in early June last year, but COVID-19 concerns have left the season in limbo.
Resort managers continue to plan for the season but can't say what impact the virus will have.
Australian Ski Areas Association chief executive Colin Hackworth said resorts were close to submitting safe operating plans to the government and remained optimistic.
"For the ski season to go ahead, people have to be able to get there and at the moment, they can't," he said.

"That's not to say that won't happen in the future.
"Operators are trying to be as flexible as possible and to be able to open as soon as possible once restrictions are lifted sufficiently."
Mr Hackworth said resorts were well placed to quickly open.
"Everyone is committed to delivering a ski season in 2020, but just for the moment we will have to be patient," he said.
"There are too many unknowns to speculate on what might occur.
"At this point in time we are on the right track if restrictions continue to be relaxed, let's hope that trend continues."
A Mt Hotham spokeswoman did not comment on Monday and Falls Creek management did not respond.
