Stephanie Jakovac has been translating government COVID-19 advice for Slovenian and Croatian communities.
While it's something she has done since coming to Australia in the 1970s, Ms Jakovac's translating skills have never been in such high demand.
"I've been doing translating since 1976, but I have never been so busy," she said.
"Hopefully we'll be close to the end of it [the pandemic] soon and I can focus more on art again.
"It's been hard not seeing family, and not getting out in the bush.
"I'm feeling flat about not being able to have any local exhibitions."
After 15 years, Ms Jakovac is unable to open her East Albury studio to the general public over a weekend. The annual event usually gives loyal supporters and those interested a chance to view her works.
"I would like to invite people by appointment so they can still come and have a look - that's the best I can do," she said.
Ms Jakovac's recent work has included decorating mannequins from a lingerie shop that was closing, which have found homes in a winery and the Hilltop accommodation centre.
She has also completed commission pieces, drawn on a recent trip to the Kimberley for other paintings, and worked on pieces for an exhibit at the Australian National Botanic Gardens.
"They said it would have to be the end of 2021, which gives me some time," she said.
Ms Jakovac has returned to her first home often in recent years, but will miss out on a particularly special opportunity due to the pandemic.
"I was meant to go early next year to Slovenia and have an exhibition there; it was a jubilee for the department of Slovenians aboard - they rang me two years ago to ask if I would be an artist," she said.
"That's fallen through.
