Forrest Hill Eagles lost narrowly to Wangaratta Thunder by four games, with the sides equal on sets, as Ben Tari remained unbeaten.
Uiver Park Bulls won on a forfeit against Wangaratta Crushers.
In section one women, Sandra Allen's Wodonga Aces won comfortably against St Pat's Pink and St Pat's Red were big winners over Wodonga Diamonds, as Alison Tinworth and Susan Carlin each claimed three sets.
Ladder leaders Forrest Hill defeated Thurgoona Jade by five games overall, four sets to two, with Helen Curtis the star.
An exciting section two men's clash between St Pat's Black and Albury Gold resulted in a draw and saw the latter edge into fourth position after Sacred Heart went down by two games to Wodonga Bushrangers.
In the other match, Forrest Hill Galahs overcame Thurgoona Sharks to remain on top of the ladder.
Graham Wurtz, Hayden McIntosh, Mal Lieschke and Bruce Phillips all contributed solidly on the day.
In section three men, Albury Gold beat Forrest Hill Tigers to give themselves a clear lead on top as Garry Hughes and Rob Gilchrist claimed all their sets.
Forrest Hill Blues stayed in the top four with victory against Albury Foxes.
Wodonga Pirates also stayed in finals contention with a massive result against Thurgoona Bears.

St Pat's Purple and St Pat's Yellow are only split by percentage for top spot in section four after Purple's clean sweep against Yellow.
Wodonga Bears toppled Forrest Hill Lions, Albury Eagles were too good for Albury Hawks, while Albury Swans overcame St Pat's Blue.
Thurgoona Lions defeated Thurgoona Panthers to keep its finals hopes alive, while St Pat's Gold won on a forfeit against Forrest Hill Rosellas.
In section five, St Pat's Purple defeated Albury Magpies to hold top position.
St Pat's Black are one behind their clubmates after a win over Forrest Hill Swans, while Albury Vipers defeated Albury Cougars.
Tuesday ladies pennant continued with Landy (4-35) too strong for Spencer (2-23) in section one, while Wurtz (4-33) overcame Sands (2-23) and Bulle won a close contest against Peacock.
Section two saw Sheil pip Howard by three games, while Aylmore had a comfortable win against Quirk.
Huckstepp upset Merritt in section three, as Johnson overcame Jones.
This weekend is a general bye due to Wodonga's Labour Day tournament.
