Hunter started out as a junior netballer at the club, and after moving to Melbourne for university, returned to play for the side last season.
In her time away, the new coach played for Melbourne Uni Lightning in the Victorian Netball League, as well as the Rosebud Football Netball Club.
She last coached Osborne's A-grade side in 2016 and admitted she's excited to take the reins again.
"I think throughout the whole club we've got some really good quality players," Hunter said.
Osborne have retained AFL Riverina Championship best and fairest winner Caren Hugo after her first season with the club, while O'Connell sisters Abbey and Georgia will also stay after returning last year.

The side will however be without midcourt player Courtney Menzies, who has returned to her home club Ganmain.
Hunter, who replaces outgoing coach Liza Gooden, admitted the club was lucky to have received time on court last season after briefly exiting the Hume League.
"We got that experience in last season which was really good," Hunter said.
"There's players that haven't been able to play since 2019, so it would be very hard for clubs."
