A parade of fish puppets will help introduce Wangaratta's upgraded railway precinct on Friday, May 14.
Primary school children have been creating puppets with David Godkin as part of the Goulburn and North East Arts Alliance Across the Arts event.
Youngsters will be able to make more puppets with Mr Godkin between 4pm and 6pm at the opening before they lead a parade at the community celebration.
The event (4pm to 9pm) also includes live music, food and beverages, giant games and art activities in Norton Street and a section of Docker Street. Damanmu Bangerang Dance Group will be among the performers.
