The midfielder was only fit enough for the reserves last weekend and even that was painful.
"At the moment, it's my right hamstring but my knees are a bit shot as well," Eggleston said.
"I shouldn't really be playing at all but I enjoy it too much. That's why I took on the coaching role.
"I'm just not keeping up at the moment. Even in reserves I didn't feel 100% and had to take it pretty easy.
"It's frustrating but you get to a certain age where your body can't match it. Age has been talking to me for five or six years.
"It would be easier if we weren't so overcome by injuries but it seems to be hitting us so hard at the moment. It's like our bodies are not ready after having last year off.

"If we had a full fit squad, I'd be happy to stand on the sidelines, that would be easier, but because we've got so many outs, I can't."
