Boys thought he'd started the season with a race win at Bathurst in February but was later disqualified over an engine eligibility issue.
However, that disappointment has only provided more motivation for the 23-year-old to produce his best in the second tier championship beneath Supercars.
"My main focus is definitely trying to win the Super2 Series," Boys said.
"I want to win as many races as I can and put myself on the map, that I am the next guy, not just someone who's idling through the sport and will come and go. I want to show that I've got what it takes and that I'm here to stay. You do that by winning races and turning people's heads.
"That was always my shot and even after what happened at Bathurst, it's still the plan.
"If the championship works out, that's awesome because there are some great names that have won the series but for me, I want to leave no doubt in everyone's mind who the fastest guy was all year."
Boys and his Image Racing team spent two days testing at Winton last week.
They were due to race there this weekend but the seven-day lockdown in Victoria has forced the Winton SuperSprint to be postponed.
"Even though it's my home track, every time we go testing there we're normally a bit off the pace," Boys said.
"We're working on specific things for other tracks so you never go out and try to find speed at Winton.
"That's why we wanted to do two days there, to really focus on getting ultimate lap speed out of it because you need to qualify up the front there to have a fighting chance of being competitive.
"That's what we did for two days and we got some pretty cool results out of it."

Boys insists the disqualification at Bathurst, where he banked 129 points for finishing third in race one, shouldn't cast the team in a bad light.
"It was a long time after the round, the team was dealing with it and eventually they let me know what had happened with the engine breach. It's hard to explain because I've never been in that situation before," he said.
"It's super disappointing but it's more disappointing for me because of the type of people Image Racing are.
"Some people would say it reflected badly on them, which it definitely shouldn't have.
"We're just a customer, we pay for the engine and for me, that hurt a little bit, that they felt like they'd done the wrong thing. It sucks that I lost my points but I moved on pretty quick."
