The Wodonga Magistrates Court heard the naked victim and alleged offender fought over a metal pole during the incident at a Chiltern home last Tuesday.
The alleged offender, who can't be named for legal reasons, allegedly had a friend text his ex-partner last Monday night, telling her new boyfriend to "watch his f---ing back".
He accused her of being "a lying whore", called her derogatory names and said karma was coming for her.
The woman had blocked him on her phone and on social media a week earlier, but he continued to call her from a blocked number.
The woman and her new partner were asleep at the Epsom Road home early the following morning.
The woman reported hearing the accused man's truck before he banged on the windows, yelling out "oi ya dogs, I know you're in there".
The man inside called his uncle who went around and saw the accused man's white Kenworth and told him to leave, which he did.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The male victim armed himself with a metal rod which he put next to his bed, and the accused man allegedly returned about 2am.
The pair heard loud banging before the door was kicked in.
The attacker allegedly said "knock knock" as he entered before attacking the naked man inside.
Both fought over the steel rod as the victim was punched.
The attacker was eventually forced out.
The alleged attacker went to the Wodonga Police Station hours later and was interviewed, and blamed the new boyfriend for his actions.
He said his ex-partner had provoked him all day.
Police opposed his release on bail noting the man has priors for animal cruelty, which is a risk factor for family violence.
His ex-partner raised concerns about his use of speed and cocaine.
The court heard both victims were scared for their safety.
The alleged offender was refused bail by a magistrate and will return to court on September 9.
