The influential big man lodged a clearance to rejoin his junior club Beaconsfield in the the AFL Outer East Premier Division on Tuesday, but it was denied by the Raiders less than 24 hours later.
Beaconsfield leads the competition and the prospect of the 35-year-old playing in a senior premiership at his hometown club is the major drawcard.
It would be a major blow for the Raiders who boast a 5-5 record and are in the thick of the finals hunt with eight rounds to play.

Meyer has been among the Raiders' best this season upon his return to the Ovens and Murray after relocating to the Border to take on a role at Albury Racing Club.
He starred for the Raiders between 2010-12 after a five-year stint with Williamstown.
Wodonga Raiders declined to comment when contacted by The Border Mail yesterday.
Yarrawonga hosts the Raiders in round 11 at J.C. Lowe Oval on Saturday.
