TDFL won't return on Saturday, due to COVID restrictions

An executive and presidents meeting was held on Wednesday night to thrash out whether the round would be played after Victoria emerged from lockdown at 11.59pm on Tuesday night.

But while the State is no longer in lockdown, the Victorian Government had announced crowds would not be allowed at games, most likely for two weeks.

The lack of crowds was one of the major obstacles facing the 12 clubs, along with the fact the 11 Victorian-based clubs won't have trained due to COVID restrictions.

Thurgoona is the TDFL's only NSW-based club and it had been able to train as per normal over that time.

Following the board and clubs meetings, it was decided that the league won't resume, as originally hoped.

It will be the third successive week that the TDFL has missed, while it missed two games earlier in the season during Victoria's fourth lockdown.

However, clubs have the option of playing their junior matches.

It means there's now two rounds scheduled before finals.

The top five is realistically set as Tallangatta has a two-game break and massive percentage lead over Rutherglen, Dederang Mount Beauty and Thurgoona.

And although there will be no changes to the five teams who win through to finals, the minor premiership and double chance is still on the line.
