Charles Sturt University and Albury Council reach 20 years in scholarship partnership

The council has been a long-time supporter of the university's Albury campus and continues to offer scholarships to support Border school students keen to further their education.

More than $6000 is offered across three annual scholarships to students who have completed their secondary education on the Border and plan to study in the university's education, business, information and communication or agricultural, environmental and veterinary sciences schools, or those who want to build on their leadership skills.

Charles Sturt University Foundation chief executive Sarah Ansell paid tribute to Albury Council for its assistance.

"Albury Council has been a great supporter of Charles Sturt over the years, for which we are very grateful," Ms Ansell said. "To have the backing of your local community after graduation can make all the difference between choosing one career path over another."

Albury Council service leader for people and culture Cate Stevens said it was important high school students were supported on their career journeys.

"The last couple of years have been particularly challenging for students of all ages, in particular those in years 11 and 12 who are completing their schooling and embarking on their career journeys," Ms Stevens said.

"They deserve all the support they can get."

Applications close for the scholarships in the first week of February.
