Claude Nguweneza did not turn up to Albury Local Court in early August and again on September 13.
After that he was given one last chance, but ended up being a no-show for a third time.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The 23-year-old, who is still trying to get Australian residency having moved here just a year earlier, took part in the attack, with a friend, in the early hours of March 28.
His accomplice, 34, left the Zed Bar in Dean Street just after 3am. While standing at the corner of Kiewa Street he saw the 18-year-old victim.
He asked the teenager why he was drinking a can of mixed spirits outside a licensed premises.
But when the teenager approached him, the man punched him in the face.
Other people milling about in Dean Street pulled them apart when they began to fight.
The man phoned Nguweneza and told him what had happened, then grabbed a discarded glass bottle.
When Nguweneza arrived about 3.20am, his friend pointed out the victim before running up behind him and striking him to the face and head with the base of the bottle at least eight times.
Nguweneza restrained the victim during the attack.
When the victim broke free, Nguweneza threatened him with a 60-centimetre wooden baton.
Defence lawyer Jaimee Simonsen withdrew from the case when Nguweneza failed to attend court on the charges of affray and being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.
Magistrate Richard Funston disqualified Nguweneza from driving for four months and fined him $3000 on several driving-related matters.
