IN OTHER NEWS:
During the raid, on October 12 about 3am, the teenager and up to four men broke the front door of the Thurgoona Street unit off its hinges.
Once inside they targeted the man, who hit the youth in self-defence, knocking him to the floor.
One of the unknown accomplices retaliated by punching the victim to the left side of the face, then with the others dragged the man from the lounge room to the hallway.
During the attack, Albury Children's Court has heard, the victim had a crowbar, his gaming console and a pair of headphones thrown at him.
Each item missed.
About 3.20am, the youth presented himself to the Albury hospital emergency department with a wound to the left side of his head.
The youth, who remains in custody, bail refused, has pleaded guilty to charges of break and enter and commit a serious indictable offence using violence and enter enclosed lands without lawful excuse.
The court was told the teenager had an "extensive criminal history" and, in recent times, had been homeless.
The victim, 19, and the youth had known each other since 2011 and had been friends.
The victim gave him the Nike shoes in early October on the agreement the youth would give him $50, which he didn't have at the time.
The youth visited the unit around October 5, leaving behind a bike, belonging to someone else, for safe-keeping.
A few days later the victim went to the Glenroy house, saw the youth and then after the teenager left, grabbed the shoes.
The teenager will be sentenced on February 3 after the preparation of a NSW Youth Justice report.
