Luke Schmerse earlier hurled abuse at his partner and smashed kitchen furniture, before grabbing hold of her by the arms to stop her leaving.
She was able to pull free of his grip and flee.
"When the victim was outside," police told Albury Local Court this week, "the accused then threatened to kill their dog, which in turn caused the victim to further feel fear."
Schmerse, 27, of McLennan Street, pleaded guilty to a single charge of stalk or intimidate.
The court heard that Schmerse and his girlfriend went to the pub on Saturday about 9pm.
They stayed until 12.30am then drove home and went to bed.
IN OTHER NEWS:
While in bed they began to argue after Schmerse accused his girlfriend of sleeping with another man before they had begun their relationship.
She told him to go sleep in the spare bedroom, which he did.
But a short time later she went to his room and they resumed their argument, with Schmerse calling her a "whore" and a "dirty little slut".
Schmerse went to the kitchen and began smashing wooden dining chairs
"The accused then told the victim to get out of the house, however as she was attempting to leave the accused has blocked the exit and grabbed the victim by the arms and continued to yell at her," police said.
After she left, Schmerse went back to bed and the victim called police.
He admitted to police that he threatened to kill the dog, "but I wouldn't do that. It was just to scare, sort of thing."
Schmerse will be sentenced on June 12.
