The O and M had its greatest round of upsets in years on May 1 when Yarrawonga, Corowa-Rutherglen and Wodonga Raiders beat pre-season finals fancies Wangaratta Rovers, Lavington and Myrtleford respectively.
With a third of the regular season completed, just one win separates ninth-placed Yarrawonga from fifth-placed Corowa-Rutherglen.
"Those results opened the door, nine wins play finals, if we had won (against Myrtleford), it would have been three-three, but we're still in contention," Taylor said.
Even the Bulldogs most passionate fan wouldn't have believed they could be just a win out of the top five a third of the way through.
Wodonga claimed the last wooden spoon, but has had a stellar start, just falling in the final minutes to Myrtleford last week.
