Business NSW Murray-Riverina regional manager Anthony McFarlane said if Victoria was to close its border with NSW the region's tourism sector would be shattered.
The move, which the Victorian government said could happen at any time, would be the third time the border has closed in just over a year.

Mr McFarlane said the region's visitor economy was already suffering.
The March 2021 National Visitor Survey Results showed the amount of tourist dollars spent in the Murray dropped from $600 million in the year ending March 2020, to $271 million in year to March 2020.
Mr McFarlane said expenditure in the region had dropped 55 per cent. He said about 66 per cent of southern NSW tourism comes from Victoria.
"Any further border restrictions would be devastating for business in Border region particularly visitor economy particularly given the results we've seen," Mr McFarlane said.
