Ovens and Murray Water Polo president Tom Hogan hopes the last weekend out of the pool has now passed as the association sets their sights on a November 5 return.
However, Hogan admitted there is some hesitation heading into round one, with the border in the midst of a Covid outbreak.
Players must be fully vaccinated in order to enter the Albury pool facility.
"We have some great members and we just have to have some faith that they'll do the right thing, and if by chance they get pinged as a close contact, they'll exclude themselves," Hogan said.

"We might have to give some allowances for possible games that are forfeited, but we're just going to try and play those higher grades and get some sort of polo ticking over.
"We just want people to get to training this week, see what numbers they've got and get on the front foot."
A-grade men's and women's games are to be held in Albury next Sunday.
