He stole the money from the Jones Group, which operates the Siesta Hotel, Quality Hotel on Olive Street, and Quality Hotel in Wangaratta.
The Albury District Court heard he had been addicted to the ruse, which was discovered a short time after he left his job.

He was serving a term of two years and three months at Junee when he died on January 2, 2019, about 18 months before he would have been eligible for parole.
A funeral was held in Albury 15 days later.
All deaths in custody are investigated by the coroner.
An inquest is set to start at Lidcombe on Monday next week before Coroner Derek Lee.
The exact nature of the inquest, and what will be examined during the proceedings, is unclear.
The inquest is listed to run until Friday.
