He was located near the Wiradjuri Boat Ramp, approximately two kilometres from where he was last seen.
The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter tweeted about 9.15am on Thursday that the body had been located and the aircraft was being deployed to Albury.
Wagga Police are set to hold a press conference at 11am.
The man was last seen about 8.45pm on Sunday when he was seen entering the river.
He did not resurface.
His friend and housemate Tiffany Cunningham said he had only moved to Wagga in September with his partner and children from South Australia.
“All he wanted to do was jump into the river and cool down because it was so hot – he wasn’t even two metres from the edge,” she said.
Detectives from Wagga Local Area command will be investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death on behalf of the coroner.
More to come.
