The 2AY early morning anchor's team won 11 of 15 booths, topping the ballots at Lavington schools as well as in central Albury, North Albury and Thurgoona.
Former mayor Stuart Baker's group came first at the remaining four polling places that included Albury High School and the Albury and Albury West public schools.
Overall Ms King's line-up attracted more than 22 per cent of the vote, while Mr Baker and his candidates netted 17 per cent.
Former mayor Alice Glachan's team was next best on 12.93 per cent, just ahead of the Greens on 12.18 per cent.
Councillors Henk van de Ven and David Thurley appear set not to return to the Kiewa Street chamber with their primary votes both on three per cent.
IN OTHER NEWS
Labor councillor Darren Cameron has 9.90 per cent, ahead of former councillor Daryl Betteridge on 8.92 per cent.
The team of candidate Ross Hamilton, who was allegedly threatened by Cr van de Ven last week resulting in police laying a charge, scored five per cent and urban designer Andrew Boyd Barber 2.64 per cent.
The tallies do not include votes lodged before election day or electronic ballots.
In Federation Council, incumbent David Longley attracted 644 votes, the highest tally among ungrouped candidates ahead of farmer Rowena Black (162) and councillor Gail Law (133).
Matt Hicks is likely to join them, having netted 17 per cent in the Jindera-based ward.
In the other contested ward, north, incumbent Doug Meyer had 33 per cent of the vote, ahead of Annette Schilg 27 per cent, Ian Forest 21 per cent and Karen Schoff 17 per cent.
